It looks as if we may be stuck in Popoyan longer than expected, apparently there are riots in the streets.  I have been doing very little today, just catching up on blogging and other sedentary stuff so I have barely ventured outside and had no idea such interesting things happened in this town.

Today I climbed Volcan Puracé, an active volcano almost 5000m high.  Prior to this little excursion I had climbed two other volcanoes, both in Guatemala – Pacaya 2500m and Atitlan 3535m – so both of them were relatively low altitude and would not prepare me for the climb up  Puracé.
